Code of EthicsMembers of the Conception Bay Kennel Club
must adhere to the rules and regulations set out in the constitution and by-laws
of the CBKC and of the Canadian Kennel Club.

Canadian Kennel Club to be a member of the Conception Bay Kennel Club.? However, members of the CBKC must be in good
standing with the CKC.? Anyone debarred
or deprived of privileges by the CKC will be automatically denied membership in
the CBKC.
All members of the
CBKC will behave as responsible dog owners, treating their dogs humanely and
providing them with adequate food, water, shelter, veterinary care, exercise,
grooming, and the socialization and training necessary for them to be good
canine citizens .? The CBKC does not condone the chaining of dogs, or the transportation
of uncrated dogs in uncovered pick-up trucks. CBKC members shall refrain from
these activities.
Members will act against the abuse or neglect of dogs, either by notifying the applicable authorities or by any other appropriate means.? Any person prosecuted and found guilty of
cruelty to any animal cannot become a member of the CBKC.? Any member of the CBKC found guilty of
cruelty to any animal will have their membership immediately and permanently
revoked.
Members of the CBKC will use and encourage
others to use only humane techniques for handling and training dogs; and will
discourage the use of non-instructive physical or psychological punishment of
dogs.
Members of the CBKC will undertake to
educate the public in all aspects of their breed(s).? They will also educate the public in any way
that will benefit dogs in general, and purebred dogs in particular.
The CBKC wishes to encourage
sportsmanship, fellowship and goodwill among its members and in our mutual
interest in the sport and enjoyment of dogs.?
Members will represent the club in good faith and will not publicly or
privately promote any product or service in the club?s name without the express
written consent of the club.
Members of the CBKC are strongly
encouraged to be active participants in the club.? All members should regularly attend meetings
throughout the year and are strongly encouraged to do so.? Members should volunteer time and skills
wherever possible.? Members must attend
at least four meetings annually and/or contribute to club activities (for
example: event organization, public education, fundraising, etc.).
No member of the CBKC shall deliberately
degrade other members, any fancier, their breed, kennel operation, their ethics,
trainer or training methods by making false or misleading statements. If a
member feels they have cause to doubt any of the above in a fellow member, it
should be brought to the attention of the CBKC Executive, in writing, so that
such matters can be dealt with in accordance with the procedures outlined in the
club?s constitution and by-laws.
The CBKC considers it unethical for any of
its members to sell dogs to pet stores, wholesalers or brokers dealing with
dogs, or to knowingly sell to any person who sells to pet stores, wholesalers or
brokers.? They should not knowingly allow
any of their dogs to be used in raffles, lotteries, auctions or as competition
prizes.
No membership will be considered valid
until this Code of Ethics is signed and on file with the club secretary.? A duplicate copy is to be retained by the
member. Complaints requiring arbitration shall be submitted to the Executive, in
writing, to be resolved according to the procedures laid out in the constitution
